How to earn KrisFlyer miles from credit cards

Earning KrisFlyer miles from credit cards happens by one of two routes: points collected on a participating card that the cardholder converts to KrisFlyer miles at the rate specified by that partner programme, or a co-branded card whose KrisFlyer miles are deposited into the member's account automatically each month. [9] Singapore Airlines also says that reward points earned with its bank and retail partners can be converted to miles. [1]

Key takeaways

  • KrisFlyer recognises two card routes: converting the card programme's own points, and co-branded cards that credit KrisFlyer miles monthly. [9]
  • The conversion rate is set by the individual partner programme, not by KrisFlyer, and a partner may bar certain categories of its members from transferring points at all. [9]
  • Only the member who holds the card can convert its points: card points cannot be credited to somebody else's KrisFlyer or PPS Club account. [6] [9]
  • Miles from non-airline partners normally post six to eight weeks after the transaction, and an inbound conversion cannot be reversed. [6] [9]

Two routes to KrisFlyer miles

Converted card points. On participating credit and charge cards, the member earns the card programme's points on eligible purchases and then converts those points to KrisFlyer miles at the conversion rate specified by that partner programme. [9] Because the rate belongs to the partner programme, the number of KrisFlyer miles per point is a property of the bank's scheme rather than of KrisFlyer itself. [9]

Co-branded cards. On co-branded credit and debit cards identified by Singapore Airlines, the KrisFlyer miles earned are deposited automatically into the member's KrisFlyer account each month. [9] Where selected co-branded cards are used to buy a Singapore Airlines ticket online, the bonus miles are based on the purchase value of the ticket and not on the miles flown. [9]

Either way the miles land in one personal account: each member may hold only one KrisFlyer account, and multiple memberships or joint accounts are not permitted. [9]

Singapore cards: a direct-earning debit card and a UNI$ card

UOB's Singapore card listing presents the KrisFlyer UOB Debit Card as earning KrisFlyer miles directly: 1 KrisFlyer mile per S$1 spent on Singapore Airlines, Scoot, KrisShop and Kris+ purchases, and 0.4 KrisFlyer miles per S$1 on all other spend, plus up to 6 bonus KrisFlyer miles per S$1 when the customer also spends, saves and credits salary with the KrisFlyer UOB Account. [3] This is the co-branded pattern: miles are credited as miles rather than as a separate currency to convert. [9]

The same issuer's UOB PRVI Miles credit cards are shown earning UNI$ instead — UNI$7.5 per S$5 of regional spend in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam, UNI$6 per S$5 on other overseas spend, UNI$3.5 per S$5 locally, and up to UNI$20 per S$5 on Agoda and Expedia bookings made through the PRVI Miles website — with a choice to redeem for miles, cash rebate or vouchers, and up to 6 bonus KrisFlyer miles with a KrisFlyer UOB Deposit Account. [3]

Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China and Malaysia

In the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China, ELEMENTS CLUB members who successfully convert ELEMENTS POINTS to KrisFlyer miles between 1 and 31 October 2026, both dates inclusive, receive 20% bonus KrisFlyer miles. [1] It is a dated promotion, and bonus KrisFlyer miles earned from promotions are credited at the end of the promotional period. [1] [9]

Timing and corrections

Miles from non-airline partners normally appear in the account six to eight weeks after the member uses the partner's services, because the partner first verifies the transaction and the membership status. [6] For miles converted from a non-airline partner programme, Singapore Airlines directs members to the timeframe set out in that partner's own terms and conditions, and to the partner for any query about the conversion. [9]

Discrepancies concerning a transaction should be reported within three months of that transaction, and an incorrect number of miles credited should be raised within three months of receiving the statement. [9] Singapore Airlines is not obliged to correct under-credited miles that are not brought to its notice inside that period, while over-credited miles may be corrected at any time, even later. [9]

Exceptions and limits

  • A card is not status. The type of credit, charge or debit card a member holds has no bearing on KrisFlyer status and does not entitle the member to lounge access or Star Alliance or Singapore Airlines benefits. [9] Separately, UOB lists four complimentary lounge visits a year for principal PRVI Miles cardmembers as one of that card's features. [3]
  • Points cannot travel between people. Conversion or accrual of KrisFlyer miles from credit or charge points that do not belong to that member is strictly prohibited, and Singapore Airlines may cancel an account and its miles for a breach. [9] The principal cardholder's converted points can only go to that cardholder's own KrisFlyer or PPS Club account. [6]
  • Partners can restrict transferors. Some programme partners may disallow certain categories of their own members from transferring points to a KrisFlyer account. [9]
  • One direction only. Miles transferred from a non-airline partner programme into a KrisFlyer account cannot be reversed. [9]
  • Terms move. Singapore Airlines may modify the programme at its sole discretion without prior notice, including its partners and the rules for earning or using miles, and awards from partners depend on the partner staying in the programme. [9]
