PROGRAMME PROFILE
Azul Fidelidade: Brazil's Azul programme
Azul Fidelidade is the frequent flyer programme of the Brazilian airline Azul, the name Azul adopted for the programme from 2024 [5]. Members collect Pontos Azul from money spent on Azul flights and travel services and can use them for tickets and other products or services offered by Azul and partners [4] [5], while five status levels — Azul Fidelidade, Topázio, Safira, Diamante and Diamante Unique — have applied since 13 January 2026 [4].
Facts checked: 18 October 2026
Key takeaways
- Earning is based on money spent, not distance: the regulation starts at 1 Ponto Azul on fare and optional services, with the rate able to vary by level [4], and the published level rates on eligible Azul-operated flights run from 1 point at the base level to 5 at Diamante Unique [6].
- Five levels apply from 13 January 2026, and each is qualified in the calendar year by segments, qualifying points or air spend, depending on the tier [4].
- Points last at least 24 months from accrual, rising with level to ten years at Diamante Unique [4] [6].
- Domestic awards on flights operated only by Azul are capped at 120,000 to 130,000 points, and Safira, Diamante and Diamante Unique members can hold quotas that lower the cap further [6].
Earning Pontos Azul
Azul awards points on the fare value of its tickets and on optional travel services such as baggage, seat selection, a cabin upgrade or an Espaço Azul seat, starting from 1 Ponto Azul, and the rate can vary with the member's level [4]. The published level rates are 1 point at the base Azul Fidelidade level, 2 at Topázio, 3 at Safira, 4 at Diamante and 5 at Diamante Unique, on Azul-operated flights in eligible fares and booking classes, domestic or international [6].
Points are credited after the flight, within 72 hours, to the account of the passenger named on the ticket regardless of who paid [4] [6]. A member who did not add the account number can claim retroactive credit within 365 days of the flight [4]. Purchases in foreign currency are converted into reais at the exchange rate in force at the time of purchase, and that converted amount is used if credit is disputed later [6].
Points post in whole numbers only: the first decimal decides, rounding down from 0 to 4 and up from 5 to 9 [4]. Award tickets, courtesy tickets, charter flights, tickets held in another person's name, promotional and group fares and airport taxes earn nothing [4].
For partner-airline flights, the regulation directs members to Azul's website for the rules and conditions [4].
Levels and qualification
Azul Fidelidade has five levels from 13 January 2026: Azul Fidelidade (the base tier), Topázio, Safira, Diamante and Diamante Unique [4]. The earlier regulation listed four levels and called the base tier Básico, so the fifth tier and the current base name come from the 2026 text [5] [4].
Thresholds are counted per calendar year. The base level covers up to five qualifying segments or up to 5,999 qualifying points; Topázio needs at least six segments or 6,000 points; Safira at least ten segments or 10,000 points [4]. Diamante requires 12 segments and 12,000 qualifying points, or a qualifying air-spend threshold, and Diamante Unique requires 26 segments and 26,000 qualifying points, or a qualifying air-spend threshold [4]. Azul's February 2026 press release summarised the Diamante Unique test in the same terms [3].
Qualifying points come from Azul-operated flights and Azul travel services; a Clube Azul subscription and Azul Itaú card spending add one qualifying point for every 10 Pontos Azul accrued; promotional points and other Pontos Azul do not convert [4]. Qualifying segments are Azul-operated flights, and tickets paid in cash, in points or in points plus cash all count towards segments, even though an award ticket itself earns no points [4]. Counters reset on 1 January without touching the points balance [4], and Azul may change level rules and benefits with at least 15 days' notice [4]. Azul One is a separate invitation-only group rather than a tier reached through the published thresholds [4].
What each level adds on board
Checked baggage from Topázio upwards is set per region: on flights in Brazil, the United States and Europe, Topázio has one 23 kg bag, Safira two, and Diamante and Diamante Unique three; within South America Safira has one, Diamante two and Diamante Unique two [6]. The allowance does not apply on Azul Conecta flights at any level and does not stack with the baggage included in the fare [6]. Diamante Unique members may use the Azul Lounge at Viracopos free of charge, without a guest, with a same-day boarding pass for an international Azul flight departing from that airport, while from 1 April 2026 Diamante members and holders of Itaú Visa Infinite, Mastercard Skyline and Platinum cards no longer have access [6]. On United-operated flights, Diamante and Diamante Unique members receive one free checked bag, priority check-in and boarding and TSA priority screening, but the benefits do not apply on United codeshares with airlines outside Azul's direct agreement [6]. For tickets issued in codeshare or interline with cash payment, Azul does not extend programme benefits, regardless of level [6].
Diamante members who met the level target may issue two domestic companion segments within the calendar year, and Diamante Unique members two domestic plus two flexible domestic-or-international segments [6]; the February 2026 release listed four complimentary tickets a year and a 24-hour WhatsApp service among the Diamante Unique benefits [3]. The companion's fare earns no points, qualifying points, segments or air spend, and the benefit is closed on fare classes A, B and Y, Business, Azul Conecta, codeshare and multi-segment bookings [6].
Redeeming points
Pontos Azul can be used for Azul and partner-airline tickets and for products and services from Azul and programme partners [5]. Award prices are not fixed: the regulation says the number of points needed varies with the route, the number of connections, available flights, season and the sales channel used, and Azul publishes the amounts in its own channels [5]. The account must be active and the fare must be available for issuance, with any cash charges paid; for partner-airline awards, those charges are paid by credit card and Azul acts only as intermediary between the member and the operating carrier [5].
For domestic tickets on flights operated exclusively by Azul, the benefits regulation caps the points charged at 130,000 for base-level members and 120,000 for Topázio, Safira, Diamante and Diamante Unique [6]. Safira members who qualified with 10,000 qualifying points or ten segments hold five quotas that lower the cap to 70,000 points, Diamante members ten quotas at 50,000 and Diamante Unique members fifteen quotas at 50,000, usable from January to December of the year in question [6]. Members who reached Safira or Diamante through an Azul product — the Azul Itaú card, Clube Azul or a status-match challenge — do not receive the quotas, and the exclusion also covers Diamante Unique reached through a status-match challenge [6]. Diamante Unique members pay no redemption fee on tickets issued with points or points plus cash [6].
Upgrades from economy, standard or Economy Xtra, to Business on international flights can be paid in points or in cash but not with a mix of the two, and availability and price are confirmed at the airport on the day of departure, within 24 hours before the flight [6]. Points upgrades are discounted by 15% for Safira, 30% for Diamante and 40% for Diamante Unique [6]. Points stay valid for at least 24 months from accrual and longer by level: two years at the base level, three at Topázio, four at Safira, five at Diamante and ten at Diamante Unique [6] [4]. Points from Azul products or promotional campaigns can carry their own validity [4] [6], and points from a flight are dated from the flight, not from the purchase [4].
Exceptions and limits
- Earning exclusions. Beyond the ticket types listed above, companion courtesy tickets, standby and prize tickets, non-regular fares and any amount that is not part of the regular fare, such as airport and other fees, fines and penalties, do not earn points; a campaign that exceptionally awards points on such items is announced through Azul's official channels [4].
- Reversal. Azul may refuse or reverse points where the ticket or service was not paid in full or where fraud is suspected [4].
- Award ticket changes. Changes and cancellations follow the fare rules of the issued ticket with the applicable fees, and points are returned only if they are still within their validity period [5].
- Beneficiary list. The number of beneficiaries for award tickets is set by level: up to 7 at the base level, 8 at Topázio, 9 at Safira, 10 at Diamante and 15 at Diamante Unique [6]. The regulation provides for a beneficiary list, with the number varying by level, and a newly added name can receive a ticket only after 30 days [4].
- Account closure and transfers. Cancelling the account cancels the points, segments and qualifying points balance, though award tickets already issued and unused remain valid [5]; points can be moved to another Azul account only through the dedicated transfer product, and not by inheritance [5].
